I hope no one minds me sharing this with you. We will be married this June for 53 years. Do you see the color of that dress? She knows it’s my favorite color and realizes how much I love the color of turquoise. My wife has only a few pieces of the Southwestern jewelry as well as a few pieces of other turquoise jewelry. My wife’s personal preferences in jewelry are the turquoise earrings and the turquoise necklaces. Don’t you think the beautiful turquoise color really enhances my wife’s natural beauty?

nival Cruise Line’s beautiful ships. What a life!
A couple of weeks ago I bought my wife a pair of turquoise earrings. They were beautiful and she wore them the following Sunday. One evening I was at my computer working and she came into the room and happened to glance up at the photo I had taken of Trunk Bay at St Johns Island and said “Look at the color of the water and then look at the earrings you just bought me.” The color was the same. Now she is hinting that it would be nice to have some additional turquoise jewelry or some of the Southwestern sterling silver jewelry.
Why did you choose turquoise? Was it just the beauty of the stone? Was it because you heard of some of the unique qualities of the stone?
There may be several reasons you decided to purchase the touquoise pendant with its sterling silver chain or that pair of turquoise earrings. I’ll bet you didn’t know that in the early history of turquoise only kings and queens wore turquoise. Did you know that turquoise stones range in color from yellow-green to green to blue? The yellow-green shade comes from zinc being present when the stone is forming. The green shade is formed with iron being present. The blue shades are formed with copper being in the soil. The yellow-green stone is rare and is only found in just a few mines. The next time you wear your turquoise jewelry take a moment and ponder the unique qualities and beauty of the turquoise.
I thought for this blog I would mention some recently revealed facts of the history of turquoise. I never realized how interesting it would be research the history, customs, and cultures from around the world.
The Eqyptians were mining turquoise in the Sinai about 5000-5500 BC. Later artifacts set with turquoise was discovered in Eqyptian tombs about 3000 BC. The histories of the various countries reveal qualities, i.e. protection against someone giving you the “evil eye”, promotes prosperity, reveals the health of the person wearing the turquoise, assists the wearer in drawing love, grants the wearer wealth and happiness, and promotes joy for the possessor of turquoise. Would you believe that some of the cultures of the Southwestern tribes of America used turquoise as money? So the next time you wear your favorite turquoise pendant or your turquoise necklace ponder for a moment and try to determine is you can feel any of the qualities. Who knows just what you may discover!
The world is full of imitations of all kinds. Sometimes we don’t know what is real or imitation.
I talked with our supplier and asked that very question. The answer I received was very reassuring. The jewelry that we offer on our website is natural.
