More History of Turquoise

I really enjoy researching the history of turquoise.  It seems every time I come upon a new source of information I find out something a little different and new.  I hope  you will find these little tidbits of news interesting also.

As you know the Oriental peoples for many thousands of years have prized jade as their favorite gemstone;  however, turquoise is ranked as their 2nd favorite  choice.  The Middle Eastern cultures have used turquoise for thousands of years also.  The turquoise mined and enjoyed  throughout the European and Middle Eastern countries in  the earlier years  most likely came from mines in the Sinai Peninsula or Iran although there was mining being done in other locations.  Each source of historical information has a somewhat different slant as to the true history of turquoise.  As you purchase and wear your turquoise pendants or necklaces or earrings, ponder for a moment and consider the beautiful stone or stones you will be displaying.  I am hoping to gather some information on the use of turquoise in the fashion world.  It seems to be making a comeback.
